Mahindra BE6 – Advance tec features SUV launch with full luxury look

Mahindra BE6 : The Indian automotive landscape is witnessing a significant transformation as homegrown manufacturer Mahindra gears up to launch its most ambitious electric SUV yet—the BE6.

Part of Mahindra’s new “Born Electric” range, the BE6 represents the culmination of years of research, development, and strategic partnerships aimed at creating a vehicle that can compete with global luxury SUVs while addressing the specific needs of the Indian market.

With its striking design, cutting-edge technology, and premium features, the BE6 is poised to redefine expectations for Indian electric vehicles when it hits showrooms in early 2026.

Mahindra BE6 Design Philosophy: Breaking New Ground

The BE6 marks a dramatic departure from Mahindra’s traditional design language. Spearheaded by Mahindra Advanced Design Europe (MADE) under the leadership of Pratap Bose, the former Tata Motors design chief, the BE6 embodies what Mahindra calls “heartcore design”—bold, emotive, and distinctly futuristic while maintaining functional excellence.

“With the BE6, we wanted to create something that’s instantly recognizable as a Mahindra product but pushes boundaries in terms of what an Indian luxury SUV can be,” explains Bose. “The design had to be forward-looking yet timeless, conveying sophistication without being overly complex.”

The front fascia features Mahindra’s new C-shaped LED signature lighting that spans nearly the entire width of the vehicle, giving it an unmistakable presence on the road.

This is complemented by a sealed-off front grille area—a hallmark of modern electric vehicles—that’s been thoughtfully designed to incorporate sensors for driver assistance systems while maintaining the vehicle’s striking appearance.

The BE6’s silhouette reveals a coupe-like roofline that tapers gracefully toward the rear, balancing sportiness with practical interior space. At approximately 4.8 meters in length, the BE6 fits firmly in the mid-size luxury SUV segment, offering generous proportions without becoming unwieldy for urban environments.

Distinctive 22-inch aerodynamically optimized wheels fill the pronounced wheel arches, while flush door handles emerge only when needed, contributing to the vehicle’s clean lines and improved aerodynamic efficiency.

The rear design features an equally dramatic lighting signature that echoes the front, creating a cohesive and instantly recognizable appearance from any angle.

Mahindra BE6 Cabin Experience: Redefining Indian Luxury

Stepping inside the BE6 reveals Mahindra’s ambitious vision for the future of automotive interiors. The cabin marries cutting-edge technology with sustainable luxury, creating an environment that feels both sophisticated and conscientious.

The dashboard is dominated by a panoramic digital display that seamlessly integrates three separate screens—a digital instrument cluster, a central infotainment touchscreen, and a passenger-side display.

This “digital cockpit” spans nearly the entire width of the dashboard, measuring an impressive a 58.42 cm (23 inches) in total width.

“We’ve completely reimagined the human-machine interface,” says Shapur Kotwal, Mahindra’s Head of Vehicle Integration. “The challenge was creating something that feels technologically advanced without becoming overwhelming. We wanted the technology to serve the user, not the other way around.”

Material choices reflect Mahindra’s commitment to sustainability without compromising luxury. The seats feature premium upholstery made from recycled ocean plastic and natural fibers, while wood trim elements are sourced from sustainable forests.

Even the carpeting is manufactured from recycled materials, demonstrating that luxury and environmental consciousness can coexist harmoniously.

The seating arrangement offers two configurations: a standard five-seat layout or an optional four-seat executive arrangement with individual rear captain’s chairs separated by a full-length center console.

The latter option includes features typically found in luxury sedans, such as reclining seats with massage functionality, individual climate controls, and deployable tray tables.

Acoustic comfort receives special attention, with multiple layers of sound insulation and active noise cancellation technology creating what Mahindra calls a “whisper cabin” environment. Combined with the natural quietness of electric propulsion, the BE6 promises to deliver exceptional refinement during everyday driving.

Mahindra BE6 Technology Integration: Beyond the Expected

The technological heart of the BE6 is Mahindra’s new AdrenoX+ platform, an evolution of the system first introduced in the XUV700.

This comprehensive software architecture controls everything from vehicle dynamics to entertainment functions, with extensive AI integration for predictive features and personalization.

The centerpiece of user interaction is the AdrenoX+ Cockpit, which runs on a custom operating system developed in partnership with Volkswagen Group’s CARIAD software division. The system supports over-the-air updates, ensuring the vehicle continues to evolve and improve throughout its lifespan.

Connectivity features include built-in 5G capability, allowing for seamless integration with smart home systems, real-time navigation with augmented reality guidance, and remote vehicle monitoring and control.

The BE6 also introduces Mahindra’s new digital assistant, which responds to natural voice commands and learns user preferences over time.

“The days of hunting through menus and submenus are over,” explains technology integration lead Vikram Pawah. “We’ve developed a system that anticipates needs and adapts to individual users.

If you regularly call home during your evening commute, the system will proactively suggest this at the appropriate time. If you prefer a cooler cabin temperature on hot afternoons, it will adjust accordingly without prompting.”

Driver assistance systems in the BE6 reach Level 2+ autonomy, incorporating adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go functionality, lane keeping assistance, blind spot monitoring, and autonomous emergency braking.

The vehicle’s hardware includes 11 exterior cameras, five radar sensors, and numerous ultrasonic sensors, providing the foundation for future autonomy upgrades via software updates.

A standout feature is the BE6’s augmented reality heads-up display, which projects navigation guidance, vehicle information, and safety alerts directly onto the windshield, covering a 25-degree field of view. This allows drivers to maintain focus on the road while accessing critical information.

Mahindra BE6 Powertrain and Performance: Electric Excellence

The BE6 is built on Mahindra’s new INGLO platform, a dedicated electric vehicle architecture that incorporates an 800-volt electrical system—a technology previously found only in premium electric vehicles like the Porsche Taycan and Audi e-tron GT.

This high-voltage architecture enables extremely fast charging, with Mahindra claiming the BE6 can add up to 300 kilometers of range in just 15 minutes when connected to a 350 kW DC fast charger.

For everyday use, the onboard 22 kW AC charger allows for convenient overnight charging from home or office power supplies.

Two battery options will be available at launch: a 60 kWh standard-range pack offering approximately 400 kilometers of range (WLTP cycle) and an 80 kWh long-range version extending that to roughly 530 kilometers.

Both variants utilize lithium-ion battery cells with NMC (nickel-manganese-cobalt) chemistry, manufactured in partnership with Volkswagen Group.

Performance specifications are equally impressive, with the base rear-wheel-drive model delivering 255 horsepower and 380 Nm of torque.

The flagship dual-motor all-wheel-drive variant produces a combined 428 horsepower and 680 Nm of torque, enabling a 0-100 km/h sprint in approximately 4.5 seconds—placing it firmly in performance SUV territory.

“The beauty of electric propulsion is the immediate torque delivery,” notes chassis development engineer Narain Karthikeyan, India’s first Formula 1 driver who now contributes to Mahindra’s performance vehicle development.

“But we’ve focused equally on handling dynamics. The low center of gravity created by the battery placement gives the BE6 exceptional stability and responsiveness despite its size and weight.”

The vehicle’s suspension combines double wishbones at the front with a multi-link rear setup, with adaptive dampers standard on higher trim levels.

An air suspension system with adjustable ride height is available as an option, allowing the vehicle to raise itself for challenging terrain or lower for improved aerodynamics and easier access.

Mahindra BE6 Market Positioning and Competitive Landscape

The BE6 enters a rapidly evolving electric SUV market that includes both established players and newcomers.

At its expected price point of ₹40-55 lakh (ex-showroom), it will compete with vehicles like the Tata Harrier EV, MG Marvel R, and the upcoming Hyundai Ioniq 5.

What distinguishes the BE6 in this competitive landscape is its combination of size, technology, and performance.

While most offerings in this price range are compact or mid-size SUVs, the BE6’s more generous proportions and premium features position it as a value proposition compared to significantly more expensive models from European manufacturers.

“We benchmarked the BE6 against vehicles costing nearly twice as much,” states product planning director Anish Shah. “Our goal wasn’t to create a cheaper alternative but to deliver a genuinely premium product that happens to come with a more attractive price point.”

Mahindra plans to produce the BE6 at its new manufacturing facility in Chakan, which incorporates advanced automation and quality control systems.

The company has invested over ₹10,000 crore in its electric vehicle program, demonstrating its long-term commitment to this technology.
